Xanthan gum is a natural gelling agent. Ideal for making home-made gels, it is soluble in aqueous phases (water, alcohol). It will also add consistency to your home-made cosmetic preparations such as creams and lotions.
Dosing information: 0.1% to 2% of the total amount of your preparation. If you add 1%, the resulting gel will be more fluid. If you add 2%, the gel will be thicker. Warning: too much gum will make your preparation “sticky”.
Vigorously stir in Xanthan gum as you sprinkle it into the aqueous phase to keep lumps from forming. Xanthan gum disperses more quickly when pre-mixed in a little glycerine. Combine and leave to soak for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
