It’s fun to make your own cosmetics. But there are some crucial usage precautions you need to be aware of. 10 Rules to Follow for Safely Creating Homemade Cosmetics.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before making products.

  • Disinfect all containers and utensils before use.

  • Add preservatives or antioxidants to the product (for example, Vitamin E).

  • Label jars and bottles with contents and expiration date and keep them away from children.

  • Test the product by placing a small amount on the inside of your elbow and waiting 24 hours to see any skin reactions.

  • Keep certain homemade products in the fridge.

  • Watch for any changes in colour or scent and don’t hesitate to discard a product.

  • Follow guidelines for storage time and location (cool, dry place away from light).

  • For products that require high temperature heating, follow usage precautions to avoid burns and splashes. We recommend wearing gloves and protective eye glasses.
